Two nights ago, I was invited to the Penthouse Suite of Sheraton Times Square to celebrate the second year of Sheraton Social Hour (links to their Facebook page), sponsored by one of my favorite Champagnes, Nicolas Feuillate.

Like last year, the party was fabulous – good food, very good wines, we’re all in a gorgeous suite that has views of Times Square, a glimpse of Central Park, and the Hudson River. And we had a celebrity to mingle with us normal folk. (This year was the beautiful actress, Debra Messing, as seen above.)

One of the most notable dishes served was the scallop with curry-spiced lentils (latter was flavored with curry, coconut milk, ginger, mint, scallop, cilantro, cumin) paired with a moderately crisp Chateau Ste. Michelle Sauvignon Blanc Horse Heaven Hills Horse Heaven Vineyard 2011. The scallop was silver dollar in diameter and really sweet while the lentils sweet-spicy flavors worked pretty well with the Sauvignon Blanc.

Lamb and Blue Cheese Sliders with pickled red onion and sriracha sauce Pouring the Stella Maris Columbia Valley 2008

The lamb and blue cheese sliders with pickled red onion and sriracha sauce was delicious and flavorful (and I adored the fact they managed to keep it a medium rare). The Stella Maris Columbia Valley 2008 Bordeaux was a great pairing with the smoky, low tannin, dark fruit wine.

ChocolatesFresh blueberries covered in chocolate and flaked almonds Platter of macarons

For desserts, there were a plethora of chocolate bonbons (a caramel-y, milk chocolate, peanut butter and jelly, dark chocolate, and currant), fresh blueberries covered with dark chocolate and flaked almonds, and macarons.
