What I liked when dining there was primarily for their sushi when I’m in the neighborhood for dinner (may it be for dinner before a show or if I’m meeting up with friends who are near the west side of Manhattan). [Translate] This weekend is the Food Film Festival 2016, celebrating its 10th year at the AMC 25 Empire in Times Square. I remembered the last time I’ve been to the Food Film Festivals of many years past, the venues were much smaller and had this indie feel but very good food were served and cool short food films were shown. [Translate] Two nights ago, I was invited to the Penthouse Suite of Sheraton Times Square to celebrate the second year of Sheraton Social Hour (links to their Facebook page), sponsored by one of my favorite Champagnes, Nicolas Feuillate. Like last year, the party was fabulous – good food, very good wines, we’re all in a gorgeous suite that has views of Times Square, a glimpse of Central Park, and the Hudson River. [Translate] The scene, food & drink during StarChefs’ Rising Star VIP Hour This year’s StarChefs Rising Stars took place at the historic Liberty Theater in Times Square. (Looking back two years ago, it was at the now defunct Bar Basque.) Chef German Calle of Petrossian Restaurant New York created three passed hors d’oeuvres during the VIP hour featuring Petrossian’s legendary caviar. The lobster risotto with Petrossian caviar powder was deliciously creamy and briny. [Translate] The crowd at Ultimate Blast 2011 Last Friday, October 14th was the 2nd annual Ultimate Blast 2011 at Marriott Marquis Hotel in Times Square. This huge spirits and wine gala showcased “the best of the best” spirits, cocktails and wine for ticketholders to sip and savor. Many of the exhibitors of various spirits, cocktails and wines poured for the evening have been awarded high honors at the Ultimate Beverage Challenge (UBC) competitions held earlier this year at Astor Center. [Translate] Getting invited to see and taste this year’s NTDTV’s 3rd Annual Cooking Competition at Times Square’s Duffy Square was quite an interesting and admittedly, unconventional spot to host an event like this. I would never imagine having an outdoor cooking competition smack in the middle of the busiest, tourist-filled area. But they’ve built platforms, a stage, four kitchens (that look like this), and several tables for VIPs and press.
