La Maison du Chocolat – Pastries Reveal & La Nuit du Gâteau

As most of my readers know, back this past May I went to La Maison du Chocolat’s factory in Nanterre and probably remember my pastry tasting preview with their Creative Director Gilles Marchal. If you have either looked at that epic post or recalled it in your mind, I have mentioned that they’ll be bringing in their gorgeous pastries over to the United States toward the fall. Well, it is finally here.

I went to their press preview last week in their boutique and they said they are selling the eclairs, chocolate and caramel are the current flavors, for $6.50 in all of their stores. I have received intel from a good friend and reader of mine via email that they started selling it the past Tuesday.

The pâte à choux (the pastry shell) is baked in New York City and the chocolate and fillings are flown in from Paris. Everything is made the day of and sold for a limited amount per day as they believe in freshness and quality.

These eclairs are delicious as what I have had in Paris. It carried me back to what happened that amazing day.

Another announcement to make is that La Maison du Chocolat is throwing a public party, a classy one mind you, at all of their boutiques on Wednesday, November 3rd, 2010 at 7 PM – 9 PM (ends at 12 AM at the Upper East Side location). They are offering free tastings of all their pastries and desserts seen in this post, and debuting the sTARTElette (an unusual yet beautiful tart composed of a rectangular sablé topped with a ganache infused with ginger, passion fruit and Sancho pepper).
