There are times when I crave simply cooked seafood in an unpretentious restaurant – and having both requirements eating out is kind of hard to find. But there is Acqua Restaurant. It’s down at the South Street Seaport area and this charming Italian seafood restaurant feels comfortable and cozy during the cold winter’s evening that a friend and I visited. (more…) Advertisements

I recently had an after-work dinner with a friend at The Tuck Room and found myself pleasantly surprised to know there is an upscale cocktail bar and restaurant found on the second floor of the iPic movie chain in South Street Seaport. When I peruse through the menu of The Tuck Room, it’s filled with pages of various cocktails that primarily contains New York State spirits and produce. (more…)
For my family’s dinner on the second day of the (Chinese) year (we cooked a feast on the day of Chinese New Year), we headed out to North End Grill. I was curious of Chef Floyd Cardoz’s food since his days at Tabla, where he cooked robust, vibrant Indian dishes and I’ve been following Pastry Chef Tracy Obolsky since she was at Esca. North End Grill is an update of the American bar and grill in Battery Park City. When you enter the restaurant, your eyes would fall on the modern, sleek black and white checkered tile floors, clusters of..
As most of my readers know, back this past May I went to La Maison du Chocolat’s factory in Nanterre and probably remember my pastry tasting preview with their Creative Director Gilles Marchal. I have been reading around the Interwebs recently and thought about where I can get lunch, I ended up reserving a seat at SHO Shaun Hergatt on Friday. I know it’s quite a distance from where I work and frankly, I don’t eat around the Financial District since I get lost in that neighborhood and there aren’t that many notable restaurants. But I have read good (and a few mixed) reviews on this restaurant, I thought I might as well try to quench that curiosity and try out their food. Week in Review: Brunch at Resto, Sanctuary T, Christopher Norman Chocolates, Ciao Bella, and Big Booty Bread
I know some of you who have visited my Flickr photostream, I’ve put up photos of Tia Pol before Big Booty Bread but I’m saving that for another post. So, here’s another round of food. Last Saturday, I went to brunch at Resto. You might be wondering, why the heck do I want to go to a Belgian restaurant for? I just wanted to try their burger since I’ve read many publications indicating that they have an awesome burger that is on par with my beloved Shake Shack burger. Resto Interior (more…)
