Back in September, my family and I went to Beijing, China for a week. We had an amazing time at the capital city from shopping for teas and souvenirs, sightseeing the landmarks like Tienanmen Square, Temple of Heaven, and a day trip to The Great Wall of China.
We stayed at the gorgeous, luxurious Grand Hyatt Beijing that was in the heart of the city and in walking distance to the main attractions like Tienanmen Square. The public transportation is very efficient and clean (unlike New York City).
We also ate very well. We had very good to excellent meals at:
Made in China at Grand Hyatt
Omakase dinner at Okra
Jin Yaa Tang at The Opposite House (best Peking duck in my life!)
afternoon tea at Four Seasons Beijing
Ocean Grounds Coffee (fantastic Third Wave coffee and coffee cocktails)
Infinity brunch at Agua Restaurant (Spanish cuisine)
Temple Restaurant (TRB) for luxurious French style food with Chinese influence
The Sweet Spot at Shangri La China World Hotel (desserts and sandwiches)
If you ever have the opportunity to go to Beijing, I certainly recommend it. However, if you do go there do have a friend or anyone who does know how to speak Mandarin. Many people in Beijing speak limited English and you would have an easier time to get around the city.
