Fantastic Stay at Grand Hyatt Beijing (北京东方君悦大酒店)

The rainforest-like swimming pool (it's humid as one)
Heat pool at Grand Hyatt's Club Oasis

When mt family and I were traveling in Beijing, we stayed at the fabulous and centrally located Grand Hyatt Beijing (北京东方君悦大酒店). This hotel has 825 rooms and Suites with a view of Chang An Avenue (one of the major streets in Beijing) or has a Courtyard View. It’s right next to Wangfujing shopping street and connected to a huge and luxurious Beijing Oriental Plaza commercial complex.

The Club Oasis has a 55-meter (180.45 feet) indoor swimming pool that’s fashioned to look and feel like a jungle with its humidity. There’s also a 24-hour fitness center and a spacious heated pool in the spa areas (divided by gender).

Relaxing at our room's living area with their loose leaf teas

We stayed in the apartment-like Grand Deluxe room with two king-sized bedrooms that fit all of us comfortably with generous amounts of space to walk around our room. A spacious bathroom that has a soaking tub and standing shower and there was a slightly smaller bathroom that has a shower (so we don’t fight over the bathroom in the morning). The nice touch was the fact that every room has its own electric kettle and three different types of premium whole leaf teas (oolong, chrysanthemum, and jasmine tea).

What I like about our room is the amazing view of the beautiful, old hutongs that are scattered around this vast city, mixing the old and the new low and towering skyscrapers.

Western and Chinese pastries at Grand Cafe breakfast buffet

What’s great about this hotel is the very good options to dine in. The Grand Cafe is a very good option for those who want to eat both Western and Chinese food. The Western food edges a bit better than their Chinese dishes. You have choices of cold cereal, danishes, Northern Chinese pastries, stir fries, made-to-order omelettes, fresh Italian sausages, etc. The options are almost limitless.

The dining option for breakfast is Made in China. (It is where we had a very good Northern Chinese-style dinner. Seen here.) Their breakfast is all about local Beijing cuisine with chefs cooking some of the dishes made to order. There’s a bounty of Northern Chinese style pastries like longan cakes or daisy-shaped pastries filled with date paste that are so different than the ones I’ve grown up eating (Hong Kong or Guandong style).

A few examples of the made to order dishes are the steamed buns, Northern Chinese style omelettes, and Chinese savory pancakes stuffed with eggs. All were very tasty and the freshness was obvious.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Grand Hyatt Beijing. Our room was spacious, immaculate and our beds were firm yet very comfortable. The food was great. The service was fantastic. I’ve called one several times about our various restaurant reservations and other requests they were gracious to assist me.
