Valentine’s Day Pastries from Ladurée

[Translate] This year for Valentine’s Day, Ladurée has a couple of options for the luxe French pastry admirer in your life. L’Amarante ($25), is a small heart-shaped cake made of light, soft almond biscuit that’s intensely flavored with Morello cherries. It’s cloud-like from the Morello cherry “blanc manger” mousse and cake, and the tart-sweet cherry flavor just sings at every bite from the cherry jam. It’s a great alternative to all the chocolates one would receive for Valentine’s. For something cute, the “I Love You” macaron box ($25) is more than just a pretty pastel blue and pink box printed..

Mind Blowing Chocolate Mooncakes From Pierre Hermé Hong Kong (IFC)

[Translate] Pierre Hermé Hong Kong opened its doors in May 2013 and so much buzz generated on that side of the world that it made me a bit envious, frustrated and lamented that Chef Hermé still hasn’t opened a boutique in the U.S. On the bright side, since Hong Kong was my first city on my long trip in Asia that I get to have my hands on the vibrant, jewel-toned macarons and chocolates. (Unfortunately, all of their HK locations do not sell the beautiful, delicious pastries like its Paris and Tokyo locations.) Entering its first location in Hong Kong..

Thanksgiving 2013 – Roasted Aioli Turkey, Braised Pork Belly, Tomahawk Steak, Cranberries, Scallion Biscuits & Many More

[Translate] The meats of the night: Roasted aioli turkey, Grilled Pat LaFrieda tomahawk ribeye steak, braised pork belly (东坡肉) Thanksgiving in my family always mean to go big or don’t bother trying to cook. I mean, it’s the holidays so there’s no need to heed to our waistlines and calories and just enjoy the food. My brother wanted a roasted turkey so I remembered reading from Thomas Keller’s mayonnaise turkey several years ago and thought this might be a good time to experiment this idea. I dry-brine the turkey first and made my own mayonnaise. It’s made with egg yolks,..
