[Translate] Much loved and frequented by celebrities, especially during Apertivio (7:00 PM – 10:00 PM), the historic lounge bar inside the four-star Hotel Locarno dates back to 1925. Antique Art Nouveau style furnishings, a fireplace and original decorations take you on a journey back to the Twenties whilst the music, informally dressed staff and creative cocktails offer a modern twist. There are 1920s inspired drinks and Head Barman Nicholas Pinna even offers Masterclasses. (more…)

[Translate] When my friends and I tried meeting at Backbar, it is not particularly easy to find. First look for the nondescript red door in an alley located behind Journeyman restaurant. Once you find the door, walk to the end of the hallway and you’ve made it. This place is run by manager/co-owner Sam Treadway that serves up seriously made drinks but it’s not pretentious in regards to the atmosphere and the staff. The space is sort of looks like it’s decorated by a cool, young man in his late 20s/early 30s graduated from school and starting his career. Seen..
[Translate] Entering the sleek and modern lobby of Park Hyatt, we were whisked by the hotel staff to the seventh floor where NoMI Kitchen resides. It’s a beautiful restaurant that has a large bar/lounge area that opens up to NoMI’s sushi area that shares the semi-open space with the Western style kitchen and the dining room. If you are fortunate to have a table near the windows looking out to the stunning, open view of the Water Tower and parts of Millennium Mile. (more…)
[Translate] For the past several years, Paris was and still is having its trend for a really good cocktail and bars (like New York City) for the past several years. We managed to squeeze in time for one particularly excellent cocktail bar called Little Red Door out in Marais on the 3rd arrondissement. When you arrive to the front door of Little Red Door, you will encounter a nondescript building with double doors with one of them being a little red door with black and white checkered flooring, hence its name. This door is actually not functional as we found..
[Translate] Despite fact the temperature is dropping a bit that one should wear a jacket or a sweater to walk around New York City, it’s still lovely enough to dine outdoors on a rooftop — like brunch at Upstairs at The Kimberly in Midtown East. (more…)
[Translate] <img Mandarin Oriental Paris is a stunning, sleek hotel found in one of the toniest shopping and sightseing neighborhoods in Paris. The Mandarin Oriental is one of my favorite luxury hotel brands to visit and stay with whenever possible (as seen from my travels to Asia and Boston). This time around we dropped by for pre-dinner drinks and snacks at Bar 8 at their zen-like courtyard after passing though their glamourous and futuristic lobby and dark, chic bar with an eye catching marble bar. [Translate] Skylounge at DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Amsterdam Centraal Station is a stylish lounge bar and restaurant with a rooftop terrace with panoramic views of most of the city from the city center to the IJ waterfront indoors and outside. It’s a popular place for locals and tourists alike not just because of the views – the food and drinks served here are very solid. (more…)

Glamour Bar & M on The Bund (Shanghai, China) – Impressive Views of The Bund & Very Fine Food and Drinks
[Translate] Glamour Bar: Exterior/entrance to the building; Entrance to Glamour Bar; Part of the interior and looking out at the Bund from the bar The two venues my family and I went to this particular — Glamour Bar and M on The Bund — are part of the M Restaurant Group. These two luxurious places are not pretentious but definitely swanky and if you are a Western expat, it mostly makes you feel like home with the cordial service and familiar Continental fare and drinks. These two are meant to impress anyone you need or want to knock their socks..
