Best Memories & Meals in 2012

[Translate] It’s kind of hard to wrap my mind that it’s almost the end of 2012. Time and life never takes a break but sometimes serendipitous things happen. (In relatively random order.) First thing in mind would be my graduation gift from the luxe chocolate and pastry brand, La Maison du Chocolat… A large Andalouise cake from La Maison du Chocolat My Andalouise cake from La Maison du Chocolat is something I never anticipated them gifting me and sending well wishes for my graduation from graduate school. This seasonal cake is intensely flavored of lemon pastry cream and chocolate mousse,..

Belated Birthday Dinner at Eleven Madison Park (2012)

[Translate] Exterior and interiors of Eleven Madison Park and my (belated) birthday card I’ve been trying to keep with tradition to celebrate my birthday at Eleven Madison Park (as I have last year and in 2010; I’ll shorten Eleven Madison Park as EMP), albeit a bit late since November was fully booked by the time I’ve tried making a reservation but it’s a first for me to have dinner there and eating a winter tasting menu. (I ended up having a closer to my birth date dinner at Humm and Guidara’s other restaurant The NoMad.) This 3* Michelin restaurant has..

Day 2 of New York Culinary Experience at The International Culinary Center

[Translate] The final day of New York Culinary Experience at The International Culinary Center, co-hosted by New York Magazine was a bittersweet ending to this fun weekend. It was hard to grasp that it was Sunday. We’re all exhausted from cooking and/or baking our heads off on Saturday. (I couldn’t fathom how the chefs felt, who have to teach Sunday morning classes, after working on the busiest day of the week at their own kitchens.) We all made friends with other guests who attended this culinary weekend and made a connection with the chef with whom you’re a fan of..

Best Meals and Moments in 2011

[Translate] 2011 have been a whirlwind for me (in a good way). A few trips outside of New York City. Many food events that I never imagine I could ever eat my way through. The many people I’ve met through the year – familiar faces, new acquaintances and partnerships. I am very close to finishing graduate school. I am thankful for the many people who supported me this year – family, friends, and many others – personally and professionally. Here are my best meals and moments in 2011. It’s in no particular order, just meals that I thought were astonishingly..

Eleven Madison Park – Same Place, Similar Time but Still Fresh and New

[Translate] Eleven Madison Park: Exterior, Roses, Interior It’s almost a year since I’ve been to Eleven Madison Park. How quickly time flies. Eleven Madison Park: The Cookbook It’s interesting how a year can change someone or something a lot. Even for this restaurant. In case you haven’t heard or read, Chef Daniel Humm and General Manager Will Guidara are now co-owners of Eleven Madison Park. It was formerly owned by Danny Meyer. This restaurant recently earned its three stars from Michelin. Their highly anticipated cookbook is coming out in about two weeks (on 11/11/11). I was fortunate enough to receive..

Belated, Epic Birthday Lunch at Eleven Madison Park (After Its Renovations)

[Translate] Taken place on November 11, 2010. A good friend of mine took me out to Eleven Madison Park for my birthday. It’s been two years since I’ve last went to Danny Meyer’s crown jewel of his restaurant empire. Back then, I enjoyed every moment there from the second I stepped through their revolving doors to the moment I bid farewell to the staff as I left. Every morsel of food that passed my lips were savored and admired for its perfection. There was a lot of commotion around the NYC dining scene about the renovations that took place around..

My (Early) Birthday Lunch at Eleven Madison Park

[Translate] They personalized it Back last Wednesday (my actual birthday was yesterday, Sunday), I splurged my own lunch early for my birthday at Eleven Madison Park. I remembered liking this place a lot when I visited here over a year ago (for their tasting menu, not counting Restaurant Week) and I’m still hearing raves about the food. (more…)

Summer RW '08 – Eleven Madison Park – A Huge Improvement

[Translate] When I ate lunch during Restaurant Week last year at Eleven Madison Park, I was underwhelmed. But this year, it’s a significant improvement for the food. Pretty… As Giulia and I got seated in, I can’t help but be in a moment of awe how everything seems elegant and refined – the high ceilings, large windows, and the tall floral centerpieces. (more…)
