[Translate] We had a pit stop, so to speak, to another French Riviera city of Nice, France. Though Nice was about a half hour drive from the super glamorous Monte-Carlo, there is a distinctive relaxed feel when you walk on the main seaside promenade, Promenade des Anglais. Strolling through the Cours Saleya market near the old city inspired me to cook, seeing the beautiful, overflow of seasonal produce, locally made baked goods, cheeses and charcuterie. (I almost wished I didn’t have a dinner reservation and was staying at an apartment with a decent kitchen to cook.) Toward sunset, we headed..

[Translate] If you have been following my Instagram for the past week or so, I’m traveling around Paris, Nice and Monaco and eating quite well. Please note, these posts are not in any particular order (chronological or even about preference of a restaurant, hotel, etc.). Le Meurice is a beautiful seven-story, hotel palace located between the Louvre and the Place de la Concorde, it’s in the best location in all of Paris, especially for museum lovers (but beware the flood of tourists). The opulent Restaurant Le Meurice (2* Michelin) looks pulled straight out of Versailles with its gilded moldings and..
[Translate] Blanca is the 12-seat, ambitious, 2* Michelin sister restaurant of Roberta’s in Bushwick, Brooklyn. (Roberta’s is more known for its pizza but I digress.) I was elated when I managed to get book a seating with one of my closest friends to share this exciting, experimental meal on the weekend of my birthday since I’ve read over the past almost 3 years, how serious but interesting the food is. When it comes to any Michelin-starred restaurant, the price comes with that status — $195 per person, not including tax, gratuity and additional beverages. You are subjected to a strict..
[Translate] Since we’re staying at Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong and thoroughly enjoyed afternoon tea (my post here), we were curious about Tin Lung Heen. This is a high end Cantonese restaurant and earned consistently a 2* Michelin rating since 2013. Its floor to ceiling windows give a birds eye view over Victoria Harbour, and it is so high up that it is actually at or above the level of the clouds. This can be experienced when the clouds on occasion completely envelop the building, and the windows appear opaque due to the mist. To access the restaurant, take the express lift from..
[Translate] View of Tower Bridge from London Bridge*; Table setting & menus; Partial interior of dining room; W checking his phone while getting his Riesling; My plate of amuse bouches The Ledbury was one of my favorite meals in London. Not just because this is in a beautiful neighborhood of Notting Hill, a two-starred Michelin restaurant, and World’s 50 Best Restaurants (#13 in 2013), under the helm of Brett Graham, being surrounded by the well-to-do, ladies who lunch, and a large round table of wine pros having a serious wine lunch, but because I finally had the pleasure to meet..
[Translate] My birthday cake Financier Last weekend was my birthday. I celebrated initially with a group of friends and family by sharing the Marechal Praline cake that is currently part of Financier’s holiday cakes with some celebratory booze (sweet white port and Rémy Martin XO Cognac). I chose this cake since it would appeal to a lot of my guests. It’s a moist, chocolate praline mousse and they liked the delicately crisp feuillatine texture found in the mousse. Many thanks for Financier for delivering the beautiful and delicious cake to my home! Right after the cake, a good friend of..
