The No Kid Hungry campaign is ending childhood..
[Translate] Last weekend, (not far after I landed from London), I attended the New York Culinary Experience 2014 at the International Culinary Center in SoHo, New York. As like my previous two years of participating in these weekends, this cooking weekend is always a blast. Certainly food filled (you will practically eat non-stop from morning to early evening). You will be enlightened by famous and well respected chefs (at least two dozen on the schedules) and get a sense of their personality as they teach you their recipes and you’ll meet individuals from around the country who love food and..
[Translate] Last night I attended the kickoff of Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel: Bounty & Barrel Dinner in Openhouse in the Nolita section of New York City. This is one of the five-city tour that features local chefs who cook with the tasty Jack Daniel Single Barrel Tennessee whiskey (and cocktails made with this fine spirit) for an intimate dinner that is also a fundraiser benefiting Share Our Strength‘s “No Kid Hungry Campaign.” Since I arrived a bit late for the canapes due to work, I settled for a refreshing and citrus-y Bluegrass Shrub (seen on the top of this post)..
[Translate] Last night was the 7th Annual Choice Eats by Village Voice. This year they moved to a much larger, brighter location despite being further downtown on the edges of the Lower East Side/Chinatown area. This colossal food event has a nice assortment from delicious ethnic eats that would warm your bones while waiting on line outside yesterday like the turkey dandan simmering in that chili broth seen above from Spicy Bampa to sophisticated yet unique squid dish from The Pines (seen below the simmering pot photo). There were also plenty of booze that most attendees who came to Choice..

Despite SD26 would be about 5 years old, mind you they have a long legacy with restaurant scene in NYC. Tony May (the co-owner with his daughter, Marisa May) started and owned the Rainbow Room in the late 60s to the 80s...

It’s hosted by New York‘s Culinary Editor Gillian Duffy featured the city’s most respected chefs (like chefs Mendes, Ansel, and Benno, photographed above) and mixologists (a total of 40). A portion of the proceeds from the evening will be donated to City Harvest to help fight hunger. As usual, this shindig was fun especially with a live band playing. Some of the most..
[Translate] SuperPier – Venue of 2013’s StarChefs’ ICC This year’s StarChefs took place at the SuperPier (last year). The venue has a lot of character like large steel shipping containers suspended in mid-air and exposed brick walls. This year’s theme “Guts & Gory” seems to fit this venue – rustic, unfinished space to have a sophisticated industry four-day event – that’s if you include their public kickoff event, Smoke@ICC. (This was my third year attending this amazing event. You may read through my experiences for 2012 and 2011.) Gorgeous day to have a BBQ; Various plates at StarChefs’ Smoke@ICC Smoke@ICC..
[Translate] Two weekends ago, I was asked by Complexity Group to shoot and video their annual event, Grapes On a Train. Complexity is a New Zealand-based group that would bring awareness of their home country’s delicious wines to the United States. This particular event is very unique as a medium-sized group of wine industry people, like sommeliers, wine buyers, wine directors, and a few writers gather to meet at NYC’s Penn Station to ride a vintage train car and take the scenic route along the Hudson River to Montreal, Quebec, Canada. During that long ride north, we participated in four..
