La Fraise at Ladurée SoHo (NYC)

Yesterday morning I went to Ladurée in hopes to dine at their back garden, besides having their delectable pastries.

Alas, the employees who were working at the retail bakery informed me that area is still under construction. (Hence, the back dining area seems a little bit darker as the back is boarded up and hiding some of the natural light that would normally flood here.)

But to make my trip worthwhile, besides just having breakfast, I had the St. Honoré Rose ($8) and the Ladurée’s newest, seasonal creation, La Fraise ($8.25). This unique strawberry-shaped pastry is made of coconut dacquoise biscuit layered with strawberry preserve and strawberry mousseline cream.

I also brought a few home to share with a friend since we adore Ladurée’s pastries and serve it with tea. The La Fraise cakes were delicious. Subtly sweet, smooth, light textures with a touch of crunchiness from the coconut dacquoise biscuit.
