Dinner at Ben & Jack’s Steakhouse

Interior
Oour drinks - Pinot Noir (Robert Mondavi), Goose Island Beer, Margarita, Brazilian Cosmopolitan Canadian bacon

On Christmas Eve, my family and I headed to Ben & Jack’s Steakhouse for this holiday. In a city with many options for steak, Ben & Jack’s serves the one of finest steaks and seafood at their dining destinations. Ben & Jack’s steaks are all USDA prime and dry-aged on the premises.

When we started our drinks ranging from well made drinks for my mother and brother, a fruity and sweet Brazilian Cosmopolitan and clean and refreshing margarita, respectively. I had the bold, delicious Pinot Noir from Robert Mondavi for my upcoming rib eye steak and my father wanted a Goose Island beer.

Shortly, our thick-cut Canadian bacon arrived and served by our waiter. The bacon was meaty, not too fatty, nicely crisp and simply delicious.

Seared diver scallops with salad

We shared the seared diver scallops that were cooked to perfection and there were some bit of salad greens to balance our meat-heavy dinner.

Porterhouse for two

The porterhouse for two were primarily for the men of my family. The steak arrived sizzling hot and our server quickly dispensed the sliced beef to the guys and spooned some of the jus and lovely fat. They were very content with the steak. When I tried the filet portion of their steak, it was nicely beefy and cooked to a perfect medium-rare.

Surf & Turf

My mother wanted a bit of seafood in her main course, hence her choice of the Surf & Turf. Her broiled lobster tail was huge probably weighing almost two pounds. Her filet mignon was super tender that it cut like butter (and it was cooked to the desired medium-rare).

Seared rib eye

My protein of choice was the massive rib eye. It was very tender and the aged beef flavor was present.

Grilled asparagus
Sauteed spinach

Our sides of grilled asparagus and sauteed spinach were nicely cooked. It’s our (slight) attempt to make this not too meat-centric and we don’t regret it.

We enjoyed our meal and too full for any of us to have dessert. The service was attentive and the food (both the beef and seafood) were done beautifully. This is a very solid steakhouse pick, especially if you’re in the Flatiron/NoMad area.
