One of our favorite bakeries in New York City, Breads Bakery has another great selection of breads and desserts for the Thanksgiving table.
The famous babka pie is always a favorite. Breads’ chocolate hazelnut babka pie is essentially the well known loaf shaped to fit a pie pan. It still retains the signature sweet, buttery, flaky babka filled with the chocolate hazelnut filling but there’s a little more crust or crispness as there’s more surface area exposure to the pan.
The dozen pumpkin rolls with a maple butter glaze were wonderful subtly sweet rolls. It has a great density and chew and the pumpkin flavor is present without focusing heavily on spices. It’s a great alternative to the pecan rolls.
For those who want a more decadent dessert besides the babka pie, the pumpkin cheesecake is a good one. The creamy, dense pumpkin cheesecake is delicious and not too sweet. We liked, like the pumpkin rolls, it’s not heavily spiced with cinnamon, clove and nutmeg; just nuances to enhance the pumpkin flavor.
