I would daresay, I have stayed and visited at a fair number of luxury hotels but by far my favorite is Hotel Hermitage in Monte Carlo. Everything about this hotel is beautiful and luxurious from the moment you step through the rotating doors and be greeted by the sight of fresh flowers (we saw hydrangea first then orchids) at the comfortable, pastel colored main lobby, all done up in Belle Époque style.
This hotel was built in the early 1900s and is one of the two best luxury hotels in Monte Carlo. Its competition the Hotel De Paris is undergoing a huge refurbish due for completion in September 2018, until then only 53 rooms are available to its most loyal customers. All this makes the Hôtel Hermitage Monte-Carlo an easy choice for lovers of luxury.
The main foyer is an ornate room with high ceilings. Decoration is made up of cream pillars, chandeliers, works of art, beautiful flower arrangements and comfy sofas resting on a detailed mosaic floor.
The other lobby with a public spaces called the Winter Garden has a soaring Art Nouveau glass-and-steel cupola, which was designed by Gustave Eiffel that took my breath away.
My Deluxe Seaview Room was immaculate and spacious with a vintage inspired on the walls, high ceilings and that magical discreet air-conditioning. A large French-style window made the room bright and airy and opens to the glorious view of the sea.
The bathroom was also large with all the essentials you would expect — large walk in shower, generous bath, marble tiling and Maison Francis Kurkdijan scented toiletries. The room was very quiet, the bed was oh so comfortable — I’ve never slept better! The best part is to wake up at sunrise, open the windows to the gentle sounds of Monte Carlo slowly waking up and see the beautiful colors of the sun paint the buildings when I look in the southwest direction from the window. Taking all of that in for ten minutes before heading out the door for day of activities is pure blissful tranquility.
There are two restaurants in this hotel — the 1* Michelin restaurant Le Vistamar and L’Hirondelle — and had meals, dinner and lunch, respectively there. I will write up those experiences soon and both were lovely in its own way.
Many thanks to Visit Monaco for coordinating this epic press trip!
