SuperPier – Venue of 2013’s StarChefs’ ICC This year’s StarChefs took place at the SuperPier (last year). The venue has a lot of character like large steel shipping containers suspended in mid-air and exposed brick walls. This year’s theme “Guts & Gory” seems to fit this venue – rustic, unfinished space to have a sophisticated industry four-day event – that’s if you include their public kickoff event, Smoke@ICC. The scene, food & drink during StarChefs’ Rising Star VIP Hour This year’s StarChefs Rising Stars took place at the historic Liberty Theater in Times Square. (Looking back two years ago, it was at the now defunct Bar Basque.) Chef German Calle of Petrossian Restaurant New York created three passed hors d’oeuvres during the VIP hour featuring Petrossian’s legendary caviar. The lobster risotto with Petrossian caviar powder was deliciously creamy and briny. At Bar Basque, Murgo 2007 Brut Rosé for VIP reception, and the lavish table display at Bar Basque This year’s StarChefs Rising Stars Gala 2011 took place at Bar Basque. (If you do recall, last year was at Maritime Parc in Liberty State, New Jersey.) Much closer to home and it’s a really nice sheltered outdoor space to be at that beautiful evening.
