US Open 2016 #FlavorOfTheOpen

Thus year’s food program US Open is arguably the best one this year since the US Open have invited Chefs David Chang and Ken Oringer to add some fun and a different kind of creativity to the veteran chefs who have been creating and feeding the attendees and tennis players for the past few years (and a very select few, decades). During the panel discussion (the photos of the chefs you see above), the highlight was Chef Morimoto belting out a Japanese fisherman song since he claimed he can sing than play tennis well. (more…)

Food Tasting at the US Open (2013)

At the USTA Tennis Center in Flushing, NY; Assortment of Grey Goose cocktails and Moët & Chandon Champagnes; Chefs Tony Mantuano, David Burke, Masaharu Morimoto, Jim Abbey and Elizabeth Karmel participating in providing their food to the various restaurants and food areas of the US Open This is my third year covering and tasting what the U.S. Open will be serving at their food courts and restaurants. Not a huge amount changed for the past two years (see: 2012 and 2011) that I’ve seen and ate. Chef Morimoto’s ginormous sushi platter; David Burke’s NY Minute Steak Salad and Grilled Portabello..
