Brunch at Upstairs at The Kimberly (NYC)

[Translate] Despite fact the temperature is dropping a bit that one should wear a jacket or a sweater to walk around New York City, it’s still lovely enough to dine outdoors on a rooftop — like brunch at Upstairs at The Kimberly in Midtown East. (more…)

Monarch Rooftop Lounge (NYC)

[Translate] Monarch Rooftop Lounge is arguably the rooftop with the up-close-and-personal feel to the Empire State Building. When we arrived there by sunset and see the light transitions from golden hour to the silver-white moonlight, we see the lovely details that makes the Empire State Building one of the most beloved landmarks in New York City. Getting to the Monarch is an interesting experience. There were at least two bouncers with lists containing the day’s guests with reservations to check your name and communicate upstairs if there are any seats available for those who are coming in without one. Spyglass Rooftop Bar at Archer Hotel (NYC)

[Translate] If you want a drink with really good shared plates of globally inspired food and unobstructed views of the Empire State Building, you should go to Spyglass Rooftop Bar perched on the 22nd floor of the Archer Hotel. The decor harkens back to the Art Deco era with plush leather bar seats and banquettes, marble topped tables and counters, with a wide open view (especially the gorgeous evening we were there) to the iconic Empire State Building where this bar takes its inspiration. The bar food is from the David Burke fabrick restaurant on the main floor. We started..

The lobby itself is fascinating with the swirling 13-story-high blue painting by American minimalist artist Sol LeWitt. The artwork, titled Loopy Doopy, is 100ft x 80ft of swirling lines and adds a distinctly modern feel. Blue lighting and curved sofas add to..

Up On 20 at Hyatt Herald Square (NYC)

[Translate] Summertime calls for outdoor drinking and since we are in the city of skyscrapers, you’d have rooftops to drink in the views and your cocktail. Up on 20 at Hyatt Herald Square is a rooftop bar in Midtown, Manhattan that has the Empire State Building almost up close and you can see glimpses of the World Trade Center and the New Jersey skyline when you are looking at their south terrace. We started our evening with a glass of refreshing glass of Prosecco ($12) and Sunny Honey ($18 – for all cocktails on the menu) cocktail and took the..
