NYC Wine & Food Festival 2014: Exploring Belgium’s Countryside hosted by Kobe Desramaults

One of the most special and unique dinners at NYC Wine & Food Festival was Exploring Belgium’s Countryside hosted by Kobe Desramaults of the 1* Michelin rated restaurant, In de Wulf at Park Lane Hotel. What makes Chef Kobe Desramaults stand out is the fact he is not from here locally (even our neighbor across the pond, the United Kingdom) and his style of cooking is not like what I would find in the States. Chef Desramaults goal for this dinner was to have elements of his restaurant’s style of food and flavors (and trying to sneak in some local..

NYC Wine & Food Festival 2014: Thrillist BBQ & The Blues & Saturday Grand Tasting

Sweet Chick’s ribs at Thrillist BBQ & Exterior of the Grand Tasting This past weekend was the packed, food-packed weekend of the NYC Wine & Food Festival (NYCWFF). This annual event hosted by The Food Network and Food & Wine magazine pull in the extended family for this blowout series of dinners, seminars, tastings, talks, demos, classes, and parties held all over the city. Along with small-screen celebrity chefs, the list of participants includes heavy-hitters from the New York restaurant scene such as Pastry Chef Dominique Ansel (the man behind the Cronut). Grand Tasting at NYC Food Network’s Wine & Food Festival

The location of the Grand Tasting This late morning/early afternoon I attended Food Network’s New York City Wine & Food Festival: Grand Tasting taken place at Pier 57. This huge, historical warehouse has views of the Hudson River. Knowing that you’d care mostly about the food, there’s plenty of New York City-based restaurants (total of 34) handing out samples of their food, ranging from the casual Italian restaurant, Accademia di Vino to the highbrow, haute cuisine of Gilt. There are a plethora of wines, Champagnes, and spirits (vodka and whiskey are very well represented here), and several corporate food companies..
