Creative Breakfast at Mortar & Pestle (Chicago, IL)

[Translate] If you’re searching for a really creative breakfast in Chicago, I highly suggest going to Mortar & Pestle in the Lakeview neighborhood. This daytime restaurant is spacious with a cozy, rustic look. There’s a long wooden communal table in the center of the room surrounded with two tops and four tops. The menu is eclectic since it varies ranging from fried cheese curds, classic English breakfast, chicken paprikash to foie gras and eggs. As someone who’s jaded seeing and having the typical eggs benedict, waffles and pancakes for breakfast, I’m pretty stoked to see an interesting menu that crosses..

Atlantic City Food & Wine Festival with the Fordcast Tour

[Translate] The beach near the Boardwalk Atlantic City, I haven’t seen you in over a decade of my life – and you have certainly changed for the better. The past weekend was the four-day long, 2nd Annual Atlantic City Food & Wine Festival. Lots of wines to imbibe on, with some food to sample and cooking demonstrations (let’s say wine & spirits to food ratio is about 2:1). And as expected, it was packed I think there’s at least 1,000 people filled the three large event rooms of Bally’s for the Grand Market. (I have attended one of AC F&W..

Lunch at Aureole

[Translate] Taken place on August 13, 2009. Sorry I haven’t been writing, just stuck with work and some stuff in life. Aureole The last time I’ve been to Aureole was nearly two years ago for Restaurant Week, in its former location in the Upper East Side. Back then, I used to think the food was ok but nothing extraordinary. I went in to Aureole with not-too-high expectations though its caliber and pricing should not be taken for granted. Walking up to the desk where all the hostesses were, they all greeted me and walked me over to the dining room,..

Lunch at Café Gray

[Translate] For strange reasons, I wanted to try Café Gray‘s food since well, it’s very close to campus in Time Warner Center, and people have talked about Chef Gray Kunz’s greatness back in the days of Lespinasse (click here for the review of Lespinasse on the NY Times by Ruth Reichl back in 1998, for the inquiring mind). Being the curious person that I am of Mr. Kunz’s food and the recent Times article mentioned that they are serving lunch again, I managed to splurge here. As I arrived to Café Gray, a woman maître d’ was waiting at the..
