Lunch at 15 East

Interior: At the sushi bar & dining room 15 East is one of the few Michelin starred, Japanese restaurants I’ve been wanting to dine at for the past couple of years, as I’ve been hearing very good to excellent things about their sushi. Trio of oysters Perusing through their menu, and coordinating with my mother’s schedule, we had the lunch prix menu of three courses for $32. This particular menu changes accordingly with the season but looked back in retrospect, it’s mostly derived from their regular lunch menu. Of the three options of the first course, I opted for their..

Fabulous Pre-Holiday Meal at ABC Kitchen

Interiors and the table full of winter produce I’ve been curious of ABC Kitchen‘s food for a while. Despite the fact I’ve eaten Chef Kluger’s food from two different events. The dishes Kluger created for these events were memorable. It was soulful, bold flavored food despite one was a protein (roast pork) and the other was pasta. I ended up meeting my lawyer friend G for lunch a few days ago before we get immersed into our hectic holiday schedule. The dining room is rustic yet pretty. Blonde wooden floors, low back chairs and a mix of white and wooden..

Belated, Epic Birthday Lunch at Eleven Madison Park (After Its Renovations)

Taken place on November 11, 2010. A good friend of mine took me out to Eleven Madison Park for my birthday. It’s been two years since I’ve last went to Danny Meyer’s crown jewel of his restaurant empire. Back then, I enjoyed every moment there from the second I stepped through their revolving doors to the moment I bid farewell to the staff as I left. Every morsel of food that passed my lips were savored and admired for its perfection. There was a lot of commotion around the NYC dining scene about the renovations that took place around the..

Brunch I Actually Enjoyed: ilili Restaurant

ilili As a born and bred native New Yorker, I don’t exactly understand the concept of brunch. Brunch to me is basically another way to sneak in more alcohol into your system even though you had your fill of poison the night (or two, if you started on Friday) before and eat somewhat bland food during the late morning to the late afternoon in hopes to get rid of hangover or induce yourself to another drunken stupor. Since I don’t drink that much and I care more about the food, I haven’t encounter brunch food that I truly enjoyed. Until..

My (Early) Birthday Lunch at Eleven Madison Park

They personalized it Back last Wednesday (my actual birthday was yesterday, Sunday), I splurged my own lunch early for my birthday at Eleven Madison Park. I remembered liking this place a lot when I visited here over a year ago (for their tasting menu, not counting Restaurant Week) and I’m still hearing raves about the food. (more…)

Summer RW ’08 – Eleven Madison Park – A Huge Improvement

When I ate lunch during Restaurant Week last year at Eleven Madison Park, I was underwhelmed. But this year, it’s a significant improvement for the food. Pretty… As Giulia and I got seated in, I can’t help but be in a moment of awe how everything seems elegant and refined – the high ceilings, large windows, and the tall floral centerpieces. (more…)

Summer Restaurant Week ’08 – Gramercy Tavern, The Best RW Experience I’ve Had

When it comes to Restaurant Week, I have learned, after participating nearly four years or so, not to have high expectations whenever I eat out at a RW restaurant. If I did, then I would be disappointed and felt robbed. But Gramery Tavern was the exception when I went there yesterday (Tuesday) afternoon with Giulia. When we arrived there five minutes prior to our reservation, there were a lot of older matrons who surrounded the front door. Strangely, the doors were locked and it seemed like they’re not ready yet. Eventually around 12 PM, we we all lined up and..
