[Translate] Bar Gonzo is a cool, a little off-beat looking cocktail bar just west of the Theater District. When you enter, you’d see the large peacock behind the bar and you’d see their mascot, so to speak, in the details around the space like a pillow or the small peacock on the second floor’s bar. It’s a colorful, tropics inspired, laid back place to have well made drinks and the shareable snacks are quite tasty. (more…)

[Translate] I recently had an after-work dinner with a friend at The Tuck Room and found myself pleasantly surprised to know there is an upscale cocktail bar and restaurant found on the second floor of the iPic movie chain in South Street Seaport. When I peruse through the menu of The Tuck Room, it’s filled with pages of various cocktails that primarily contains New York State spirits and produce. (more…)
[Translate] When my friends and I tried meeting at Backbar, it is not particularly easy to find. First look for the nondescript red door in an alley located behind Journeyman restaurant. Once you find the door, walk to the end of the hallway and you’ve made it. This place is run by manager/co-owner Sam Treadway that serves up seriously made drinks but it’s not pretentious in regards to the atmosphere and the staff. The space is sort of looks like it’s decorated by a cool, young man in his late 20s/early 30s graduated from school and starting his career. Seen..
[Translate] The Burgary and Garfunkel’s are two separate venues under the same ownership of Tim Gashi and Valentino Gjekaj. The Burgary (located downstairs within Garfunkel’s), is a casual, creative burger restaurant featuring a proprietary blend of dry aged beef from Pat La Frieda, along with a few salads, tater tots, fries and bedecked milk shakes. We have started off with the daily special milkshake – the coconut chocolate. This thick shake was good. Not too thick and it does taste coconutty and a touch of chocolate. The large mound of whipped cream, chocolate syrup drizzle, coconut flakes and maraschino cherry..
[Translate] Part of my time in Montreal, I was at W Montreal. A very urban, sexy, sleek, luxury boutique hotel in the Ville-Marie area of Montreal. When you enter the glass doors, you’d see the cubic water fountain and glowing red walls of the lobby. One of my evenings I checked out Wunderbar that is located on the ground floor. It’s a cool looking bar that has a wall covered in curved panels set in a rainbow that meant to look like the distinctive seasons and magnificent natural surroundings of Montreal. (more…)
[Translate] Mandarin Oriental’s art book; cover and inside During my stay at Mandarin Oriental Boston, I had received a copy of the hotel’s beautiful (albeit heavy), hardcover art book. Flipping through the pages of the gorgeous photographs of the brand’s various locations, I can’t help but be inspired and hope to travel to their international locations, especially in Hong Kong. Toward the middle-end portion of this book, when I came across the photos of the colorful cocktails (seen above) and made me wanted to have a drink downstairs for my nightcap for the evening. We took the elevators down to..
